Romania’s centrist Bucharest mayor, Nicusor Dan, appeared heading in the right direction to win the presidency on Sunday in a shock upset over a hard-right rival who had pledged to place Romania on a path impressed by US President Donald Trump’s politics. FRANCE 24 correspondent Maria Gerth-Niculescu stated supporters in Bucharest are “chanting, saying that they’re relieved and blissful that their nation goes to proceed on its pro-European path”.
