Japan’s agriculture minister has resigned after saying he by no means buys rice as a result of he will get it free, a comment that drew public fury in a rustic dealing with hovering meals costs.
Taku Etō’s resignation has added to stress on the prime minister, Shigeru Ishiba, whose failure to rein in hovering rice costs and deal with a wider cost of living crisis has angered voters forward of higher home elections in July.
