Although two workers survived, a 3rd worker died after being "blown by a drive explosion in between the pier and the vessel itself," in line with officers.

FDNY tried to make use of a "technical extrication" to free the worker, however the worker died.

"At this incident, we used an all-hands task, which was three engines, two ladder corporations and a chief," Simms mentioned. "We had 4 models from our marine division, a hazmat battalion and our security battalion."

Officers wouldn't say if the explosion was an accident, noting the trigger is underneath investigation by the Bureau of Fire Investigation.
