A protest has taken place in Barcelona’s metropolis centre towards the rising affect of mass tourism on native communities. Organised by the Assemblea de Barris pel Decreixement Turístic (Neighbourhood Meeting for Tourism Degrowth), the demonstration featured symbolic actions resembling squirting water pistols, taping off resort entrances and setting off smoke bombs close to luxurious retailers together with Louis Vuitton. Activists say tourism is driving up housing prices, damaging the atmosphere and displacing residents. There have been related demonstrations in different components of Spain together with Granada, Ibiza, Malaga, Palma de Mallorca and San Sebastian.
