Temperatures soared previous 40 levels Celsius (104 F) throughout components of Europe over the weekend, as an early-summer warmth wave tightened its grip on the continent.
In Spain, temperatures hit 46°C (114.8°F) on Sunday within the city of El Granado, close to the Portuguese border, setting a new national heat record for the month of June.
