The Worldwide Prison Courtroom (ICC) on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant for Taliban leaders Hibatullah Akhundzada, Afghanistan’s Supreme Chief, and Abdul Hakim Haqqani, the president of the nation’s Supreme Courtroom, over their position within the Taliban’s “persecution of Afghan women and girls” by depriving them of their rights to “training, personal and household life, in addition to their freedom of motion, expression, thought, conscience and faith.” The Taliban responded to the accusations by saying they don’t acknowledge the ICC’s legitimacy.
