Major League Baseball’s commerce deadline is formally underway.

The Seattle Mariners acquired first baseman Josh Naylor from the Arizona Diamondbacks on Thursday, the groups introduced. The Diamondbacks acquired minor league pitchers Brandyn Garcia and Ashton Izzi in trade for Naylor.

Naylor, 28, has been very productive for the Diamondbacks this season. In 93 video games, Naylor has a .292 batting common with 11 house runs and 59 RBI.

The Diamondbacks acquired Naylor this previous season from the Cleveland Guardians to switch Christian Walker, who departed in free company for the Houston Astros.

Naylor made the American League All-Star workforce final season, as he had 31 house runs and 108 RBI with the Guardians.

"We're thrilled so as to add Josh as we make a push for the postseason," Seattle normal supervisor Justin Hollander stated in an announcement. "Josh’s skill to hit for each common and energy is exclusive, and we're excited to not face him anymore."

Naylor will slot within the prime of the Mariners' lineup alongside AL MVP candidate Cal Raleigh, middle fielder Julio Rodriguez, and left fielder Randy Arozarena.

The Mariners are 55-48 and presently maintain the second wild card spot within the American League, whereas they're second to the Astros within the American League West.

Garcia, 25, made his MLB debut with the Mariners on July 21 after he shortly ascended by the workforce’s farm system after being chosen within the eleventh spherical of the 2023 MLB Draft out of Texas A&M.

Garcia had a 2.16 ERA in eight appearances with the Mariners’ Triple-A workforce.

Izzi, 21, was chosen by the Mariners within the fourth spherical of the 2022 MLB Draft out of East Oswego Excessive College in Illinois.
