Lebanon marks 5 years since Beirut port blast

The blast on August 4, 2020 was one of many world’s largest non-nuclear explosions, devastating swathes of the Lebanese capital, killing greater than 220 folks and injuring over 6,500. 5 years after the catastrophic explosion, “nobody has been held accountable”, says Stephanie Khouri, political journalist at L’Orient-Le Jour. “It is fairly surreal and really exhausting to just accept for folks right here 5 years later, that we’re virtually again to sq. one”, she added.
