Human rights teams and households of victims of Peru’s two-decade inside armed battle have expressed outrage after the nation’s authorities granted a blanket amnesty for all navy and cops accused of human rights crimes from 1980 to 2000.
The Peruvian president, Dina Boluarte, signed the amnesty – which was authorised by the nation’s congress final month – into regulation on Wednesday, to the applause of navy high brass and ministers at Lima’s authorities palace.
