I can’t consider the leaves on the birches are turning already. It’s mid-August, and our ferns are drying up; the primary hints of yellow are showing within the birch leaves, and it’s truly getting darkish at evening now. That’s Alaska for you. The upside: Moose numbers are apparently down this 12 months, at the least proper hereabouts, however grouse season is open. I like searching grouse. I can shoot one, put it in my sport bag, and go discover one other. Moose? Not a lot. Perhaps if I knew somebody who may fly it out, however I don’t, which leaves all that work squarely on my getting older again.
