The immigration arrest of Des Moines’ faculty superintendent Ian Roberts was the stuff of darkish comedy. The supposedly mild-mannered academic coverage savant, who had preached “radical empathy” to college students and employees, ditched his district-issued automobile as he fled ICE brokers on foot. He left behind a loaded Glock 9mm handgun, a fixed-blade looking knife and a brick of “bug out” money apparently deserted in his panic.
