Analysis Astronaut Kellie Gerardi emceed the night, which opened with L’Oreal Groupe’s chief sustainability officer, Marissa Pagnani McGowan , giving remarks on the model’s dedication to championing girls in STEM fields. Vox’s editor-in-chief and writer Swati Sharma then kicked the dinner off talking in regards to the significance of continued scientific discovery.

“That is such a significant second in science. Breakthroughs are taking place at an unimaginable tempo — however they don’t occur alone. They occur in communities like this one: constructed on collaboration, curiosity, and help,” Sharma stated.
