Irish dressmaker Paul Costelloe has died in London aged 80.

Costelloe grew to become one of many best-known names in British and Irish vogue and was private designer to the late Diana, the Princess of Wales.

His household issued a press release on Saturday saying they had been "deeply saddened to announce the passing of Paul Costelloe following a brief sickness".

They added: "He was surrounded by his spouse and 7 youngsters and handed peacefully in London."
