On the finish of 2025, NASA’s James Webb Area Telescope gave us a tremendous take a look at Apep, a singular triple-star system that is fairly far-off. It options a few big, dying Wolf–Rayet stars alongside a supergiant, all circling one another in a fancy dance surrounded by dusty spiral shells. The mid-infrared photographs from Webb spotlight a swirling ‘cosmic embryo’ stuffed with carbon-rich mud. This work, led by Yinuo Han from Caltech and Ryan White from Macquarie College, supplied one of many clearest views but of colliding stellar winds.
