All 24 schoolgirls who had been kidnapped by armed assailants from a college final week in Nigeria’s Kebbi state have been rescued, the nation's president introduced Tuesday.

Gunmen with "refined weapons" kidnapped the women round 4 a.m. on Nov. 17, police stated on the time, and a press release Tuesday quoted President Bola Tinubu as saying that each one 24 of the scholars who had been kidnapped had been rescued.

"I'm relieved that each one the 24 women have been accounted for," the assertion quoted Tinubu as saying. "Now, we should put as a matter of urgency extra boots on the bottom within the weak areas to avert additional incidents of kidnapping."

Attackers raided a Catholic school Friday in north-central Niger state and kidnapped greater than 300 college students and employees.
