On the heels of Kirk’s assassination, Kimmel accused conservatives of reaching "new lows" in making an attempt to pin a left-wing ideology on 22-year-old suspect Tyler Robinson, regardless that prosecutors reaffirmed these ties in an indictment.

On Cruz’s podcast, he referred to as Carr’s remark "harmful as hell."

"I believe it's unbelievably harmful for presidency to place itself within the place of claiming we’re going to resolve what speech we like and what we don’t, and we’re going to threaten to take you off air if we don’t like what you’re saying," Cruz stated on his podcast.

Kimmel's suspension over his remarks suggesting Kirk's alleged killer was a MAGA supporter was transient; he returned to the air the next week and is now signed with Disney by way of 2027.
