Julie Jacobson/AP MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Claudette Colvin, whose 1955 arrest for refusing to surrender her seat on a segregated Montgomery bus helped spark the fashionable civil rights motion, has died. She was 86.

Her demise was introduced Tuesday by the Claudette Colvin Legacy Basis. Ashley D. Roseboro of the group confirmed she died of pure causes in Texas.
