Scholar “loans” will not be actually loans. They’re, in substance, a graduate tax – obligatory for all however the rich, earnings‑linked, unavoidable and sometimes lengthy‑lasting. Calling them loans shouldn’t be impartial language; it’s a political comfort that removes them from correct democratic scrutiny.
