On 23 February 1981, a bunch of officers led by Tejero burst into the primary chamber of the nationwide parliament, wielding weapons and threatening the politicians as a brand new authorities was being sworn in. Their purpose was to return authoritarianism – six years after the loss of life of the nation’s dictator Francisco Franco.
