Rep. Darrell Issa declares retirement, backs Desmond for Congress

Rep. Darrell Issa, R-Calif, will retire on the finish of his present time period and is endorsing San Diego County Supervisor Jim Desmond to succeed him, he confirmed to Fox Information on Friday.

"At the moment I’m saying my enthusiastic endorsement of Supervisor Jim Desmond for Congress — to symbolize California’s new forty eighth district," Issa instructed Fox Information. "Jim just isn't solely a private buddy, he’s a real patriot, a Navy veteran, a profitable businessman, and has a 20-year report of public service. He understands this group, was born and raised right here, and can make a terrific Congressman."

Issa’s seat is in California’s newly redrawn forty eighth District, which has been reshaped to favor Democrats underneath the state’s Prop 50.

"This choice has been on my thoughts for some time and I didn’t make it evenly," Issa mentioned.

Issa added that after 25 years in Congress and 25 years in enterprise, "It’s the proper time for a brand new chapter and new challenges."
