A private assistant on a telephone with conversational chops elicited an audible gasp from the viewers, and loads of concern. “That it’s a sinister, doubtlessly alien synthetic intelligence that’s certain to kill us all,” CNN’s protection surmised. It was a one-of-a-kind development, one thing Apple was delivering constantly again then.
