Plans to vary the dimensions of HS2 trains to maximise capability are more likely to inflate prices and imply fewer seats and slower providers north of Birmingham, a senior authorities and rail business determine has warned.
The £2bn order for 54 high-speed trains, to be inbuilt Britain by a three way partnership of Alstom and Hitachi, is beneath assessment as HS2 Ltd seeks to chop prices and renegotiate contracts.
