In April 2026, C/2026 A1 (MAPS), a sungrazer comet, fell into the proximity of the Solar alongside a steep trajectory. A part of the Kreutz sungrazer household, MAPS was first detected by amateurs a number of months earlier than its demise. Its strategy to perihelion was registered by NASA probes, which noticed that the comet didn’t survive its encounter with the Solar. Information collected on the comet’s evaporation within the photo voltaic environment helps to have a greater understanding of its construction and the formation of the early photo voltaic system.
