Saturday, following reviews of an obvious assassination try on President Donald Trump on the White Home Correspondents’ Affiliation dinner, CNN’s Van Jones raised the potential for the suspect being made into “some type of hero.”
The left-leaning Jones cited efforts to lionize Luigi Mangione, and he urged all to sentence political violence.
Jones stated, “I’m beginning to fear about one thing, although, which is that the shooter survived, which suggests on Monday he’s going to courtroom, which suggests there’s a hazard that folks attempt to make him some type of hero. You watch what occurred with Luigi [Mangione], who shot a CEO to loss of life and one way or the other grew to become a hero. So, they stated tonight you noticed the worst of America. You noticed the very best of America. Tonight, you undoubtedly noticed the very best of America. I hope on Monday we don’t see the worst once more. I simply need to say very clearly — this sort of despicable conduct has no place in America. It has no place on the appropriate. It has no place on the left.”
“We don’t know if he was there as a result of he wished to harm Democrats or Republicans — each have been there,” he continued. “We don’t know if he wished to harm journalists or politicians, each have been there. This sort of conduct has no place in America. And it’s unsuitable. Violence shouldn’t be the way in which to resolve any grievances. And this cheerleader tradition for violence, for individuals who suppose that the reply to our issues is to go taking pictures billionaires or going to synagogues or all these various things, needs to be known as out instantly. The minute it begins, each single individual with the platform should denounce it, or we’re going to see this once more.”
