Social media was flooded with conspiracy theories after a gunman’s thwarted assault on the White Home Correspondents’ Dinner on Saturday, with each left-wing and right-wing accounts claiming – with out proof – that the assault was “staged.” By noon Sunday, the time period “staged” appeared in over 300,000 posts on X, in line with social media analytics agency TweetBinder.
