An illegal immigrant from India accused of inflicting a crash that killed a newlywed couple in Oregon has been arrested by federal immigration authorities after being launched from jail, officers mentioned.

The Division of Homeland Safety (DHS) mentioned Tuesday that Rajinder Kumar, 32, was taken into custody by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) after being launched by what the company referred to as "Oregon sanctuary politicians."

Kumar allegedly jackknifed his semi-truck and trailer, blocking each lanes of U.S. Freeway 20 in Deschutes County on Nov. 24, in line with Fox 12 Oregon.

A Subaru Outback then collided with the truck, killing driver William Micah Carter and passenger Jennifer Lynn Decrease, DHS mentioned. The couple had been married for simply 16 days.

DHS mentioned Oregon officers declined to cooperate with ICE and launched Kumar on April 2. ICE brokers arrested him April 22 and he's now being held on the Northwest ICE Processing Middle in Tacoma pending deportation proceedings.

Kumar has been charged with criminally negligent murder and reckless endangerment, DHS mentioned.

Based on DHS, Kumar entered the U.S. illegally close to Lukeville, Arizona, in November 2022 and was later launched into the nation by the Biden administration. He was granted work authorization in 2023 and obtained a business driver’s license in California.

Performing Assistant Secretary Lauren Bis blamed California Gov. Gavin Newsom ’s administration for issuing the license.
