It’s exceptionally uncommon that the tiny, perpetually marginal, and politically outmatched animal rights motion manages to seize nationwide consideration. An absence of consideration is that motion’s core downside and central organizing conundrum. How can it persuade the general public to create space of their minds for one thing they’d actually, actually want to not: the industrialized torture of animals by the billions for meals, analysis, and different human ends?
