Katie Wilson overtly laughed off fears that rich residents and job creators may flee the town over greater taxes, delivering a blunt message to millionaires: don’t let the door hit you.

“I feel the claims that millionaires are going to go away our state are, like, tremendous overblown. And if — those that depart, like, bye,” Wilson stated at a Seattle College occasion — prompting cheers and laughter from the group.

The second landed with a thud amongst enterprise leaders already warning that Seattle is turning into more and more hostile to progress.

Wilson is pushing progressive tax concepts as the town stares down a serious funds crunch — at the same time as she admits the price of doing enterprise downtown is already “wildly out of step” with close by Bellevue.

On one hand, the mayor says Seattle should keep aggressive.
