Devon and Somerset Fireplace Service stated it obtained a number of calls at about 18:30 BST on Sunday to stories of buildings on fireplace at a housing growth in Prince Maurice Highway, Plymouth.

Crews stated the homes had been "properly alight with flames issuing from the roof and home windows" once they arrived.

A fireplace service spokesperson stated two terraced homes in of a row of eight had been destroyed and crews had been trying to extinguish flames at a 3rd property.

Crews from seven stations together with two from Cornwall Fireplace Service had been dispatched.

Highway closures had been put in place on Coleridge Highway and Prince Maurice Highway whereas crews handled the incident, the fireplace service spokesperson added.

"Native residents are suggested to keep away from the world and to maintain home windows and doorways closed as a result of smoke whereas the incident is ongoing," the spokesperson stated.
