Rachel Reeves thinks it’s “not proper that individuals who don’t go to school are having to bear all the fee for others to take action” (Economics viewpoint, 1 February). Larger schooling – nay, all schooling – is the general public good that allows protected infrastructure, healthcare, scientific and technological innovation, and the various advantages of the UK’s inventive arts economic system. I haven’t been to warfare or to jail but, however I’m pretty sure that Reeves would maintain it solely proper that as a taxpayer I bear the prices for others to take action.Lucy HartleyGlasgow
