The iPhone 17 Professional and 17 Professional Max seem to offer little resistance to scratches and scuffs across the sharp edges of the digicam bump. Tech blogger Zack Nelson demonstrates this weak point in a sturdiness check on his JerryRigEverything YouTube channel, explaining that the anodized aluminium layer on the iPhone 17 Professional and 17 Professional Max “doesn’t keep on with corners very effectively” — making a weak level within the coating. It is a recognized situation with the electrochemical anodizing course of, so it was a design determination Apple knowingly made.
