However in a public resignation letter posted on-line Tuesday, Greenfield stated Ben & Jerry's "has been silenced, sidelined for worry of upsetting these in energy" by Unilever, the multinational company that purchased Ben & Jerry's in 2000.

"We stay dedicated to Ben & Jerry's distinctive three-part mission – product, financial and social – and stay targeted on carrying ahead the legacy of peace, love, and ice cream of this iconic, much-loved model," the corporate added.

Magnum is ready to separate off from Unilever in mid-November, in what the 2 entities are calling a "demerger."

Ann Lipton, a professor on the College of Colorado Legislation Faculty, stated the stress between Ben & Jerry's and Unilever stems from their uncommon merger settlement, which gave the Ben & Jerry's board management over political and social messaging whereas Unilever maintained operational oversight.
