Cannes Pageant guarantees escapism in Hollywood-lite version

The Cannes Movie Pageant unveiled its roster of movies for this 12 months’s version on Thursday full of historic dramas, “gentleness” and even soccer, with the absence of main Hollywood studios set to dial down the American razzle-dazzle of earlier editions. Pageant director Thierry Fremaux unveiled 21 movies in competitors for the primary Palme d’Or prize, that includes former winners, newcomers and robust showings from Spain and Japan.
