Senate Minority Chief Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.) is dealing with scrutiny on social media over his response to President Donald Trump’s resolution to deploy the Nationwide Guard to the town of Portland.
Trump announced on Saturday that he’s sending troops to “shield Struggle ravaged Portland” and “any of our ICE Services below siege from assault by Antifa, and different home terrorists” on the request of Homeland Safety Secretary Kristi Noem. The state of Oregon and the town have since sued the Trump administration to dam the federalization of the Nationwide Guard, arguing that the transfer is an unconstitutional abuse of energy.
