Massive areas of the town heart of Cologne had been closed off on Wednesday as specialists defused three bombs left over from World War II, which ended 80 years in the past.
The evacuation operation in Cologne, which has seen plenty of them over the years, was one of many largest to ever be carried out within the metropolis since World Battle II, with some 20,000 individuals ordered to go away the affected space.
