A person suspected of fatally stabbing a younger Malian in a mosque in southern France and filming the sufferer’s agony has surrendered to police in Italy. Recognized as 21-year-old Oliver Hadzovic by Italian police, and Olivier A. by French prosecutors, he was not pushed by anti-Islamic motives, his lawyer mentioned. The suspect claimed he “killed the primary individual he noticed” and expressed no hostility towards Islam or mosques. François Picard discusses the case with writer and scholar Olivier Esteves. He’s a Professor of British Research and Political Science on the College of Lille.
