The Democratic Republic of Congo and M23 rebels signed a ceasefire deal in Doha on July 19, 2025, committing to halt hostilities and start formal peace talks by August 8. The settlement, brokered by Qatar and backed by the African Union and U.S., contains prisoner releases, the return of displaced folks, and restoration of state management in rebel-held areas.
