An erotic mosaic panel stolen from Pompeii by a German Nazi captain through the second world conflict has been returned to the location of the traditional Roman ruins.
The relic, which depicts a pair of lovers and dates from between the center of the final century BC and the primary century AD, had been among the many heirlooms of a deceased German citizen who obtained the mosaic as a present from a Wehrmacht captain liable for the German navy provide chain in Italy through the conflict.
