France condemned on Wednesday a US visa ban on Thierry Breton, a former European Union commissioner who helped drive landmark on-line regulation that Washington believes censors free speech and unfairly targets US tech giants. The Trump administration imposed visa bans on Tuesday on Breton, one of many architects of the EU’s Digital Providers Act, and different anti-disinformation campaigners who it says have been concerned in censoring U.S. social media platforms. The visa bans underline rising divergences between Washington and a few European capitals over points together with free speech, defence, immigration, far-right politics, commerce and the Russia-Ukraine conflict. Evaluation by FRANCE 24 worldwide affairs commentator, Douglas Herbert.
