French authorities are ramping up efforts in opposition to organised drug crime in Marseille after the killing of 20-year-old Mehdi Kessaci, which officers hyperlink to town’s highly effective drug-trafficking networks. Inside Minister Laurent Nuñez and Justice Minister Gérald Darmanin travelled to Marseille, calling the assault a turning level. The federal government says it can intensify measures to curb rising drug-related violence and dismantle legal networks.
