From the pews to the information: Reporting on Pope Francis

This version of Scoop appears on the relationship between the late Pope Francis and the press, in addition to the challenges of masking the Vatican. Francis revamped communications on the Holy See, embraced social media and offered entry to writers. His demise comes at a time when Vatican journalism is struggling; many main shops have closed their Rome bureaus and a few see this as a parallel for Italy’s decline as a global energy.
