Mildred Reser began promoting potato salad to pay the payments again in 1950. The recipe she perfected in a rural Cornelius, Oregon, farmhouse helped her launch a seasonal enterprise, Mrs. Reser’s Salads, which provided native meat markets earlier than it moved to its first small manufacturing unit and landed distribution in Safeway.
