On the night of March 10, 2026, Jupiter will seem to reverse its route within the sky. This phenomenon is called retrograde movement. It’s not the precise bodily motion of the planet, however relatively an optical phantasm brought on by Earth transferring sooner in its orbit and “lapping” Jupiter. As Earth passes between the Solar and Jupiter, the outer planet seems to float backwards in opposition to the backdrop of stars. By mid-March, Jupiter will resume its regular eastward (prograde) movement by way of the constellation Gemini.
