INDIANAPOLIS — Karl-Anthony Cities was down dangerous.
After spending the majority of the fourth quarter of the New York Knicks’ Sport 2 loss to the Indiana Pacers on the bench, watching his teammates attempt to climb out of a gap that he’d helped dig with missed photographs and defensive lapses, he’d compounded the difficulty in Sport 3, lacking 6 of 8 field-goal makes an attempt with 4 fouls and 4 turnovers. Cities was removed from the one Knick misfiring, although: Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges had been a mixed 10-for-30, emblematic of a sport filled with clanks and cough-ups that had at one level pushed the Pacers up by 20 and had New York down 10 heading into the fourth quarter.
