Kremlin confirms pause in Ukraine peace talks amid Center East battle

Ukraine peace talks are on a "situational pause" because the Middle East conflict intensifies, the Kremlin stated Thursday, at the same time as Kyiv signaled negotiations might resume as quickly as this weekend.

Following studies in Russian media that the Kremlin had paused talks on Ukraine and that the Center East battle might push Kyiv towards compromise, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov confirmed the pause.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated in a video posted on X that Kyiv has obtained alerts from the U.S. that it is able to resume talks geared toward ending the conflict.

"There was a pause within the talks, and it's time to resume them," he stated. "We're doing all the pieces to make sure that the negotiations are genuinely substantive."

Zelenskyy added {that a} Ukrainian negotiating staff is already on its approach to the U.S. and is predicted to carry conferences Saturday.

Earlier this month, President Donald Trump stated the "hatred" between Russia and Ukraine was getting in the way in which of reaching a peace deal.

Talking on the Defend of the Americas Summit in Doral, Florida , Trump stated the "hatred between Putin and his counterpart is so nice."

"It is so nice that, you recognize, Ukraine, Russia, you'd assume there would be a bit little bit of camaraderie, [but] there’s not. And the hatred is so nice. It is very onerous for them to get there. It is very, very onerous to get there. So we'll see what occurs," Trump stated. Trump’s feedback got here after NATO Secretary Basic Mark Rutte stated in January that Russia was shedding between 20,000 and 25,000 troops every month in its conflict in opposition to Ukraine.

The pause in talks comes as Ukraine is more and more being drawn into the broader Center East battle.
