Copeland, the primary Black principal dancer for The American Ballet Theatre, has retired.
Misty Copeland, the primary Black principal dancer for The American Ballet Theatre, took her closing bow and was given her flowers by Black royalty.
On Oct. 22, on the David H. Koch Theater, Copeland concluded her groundbreaking profession. She carried out within the gala occasion, “A Celebration Honoring Misty Copeland,” a part of ABT’s Fall Gala and co-chaired by Caroline Kennedy and Oprah Winfrey.
Following her closing bow, Copeland was celebrated by members of the family, firm members, and legends.
