The Outaouais area on the western fringe of Quebec is house to hundreds of lakes, huge forests and intensive wetlands. Additionally it is the setting of a swathe of wooded land generally known as La Petite-Nation, which, though not removed from the cities of Montreal and Ottawa, stays comparatively untouched.
