Paris police shoot knife attacker

France’s counterterrorism authorities have launched a brand new investigation after a knife-wielding assailant was shot useless by police Friday night close to the Arc de Triomphe. The attacker reportedly tried to assault gendarmes who have been making ready for the relighting of the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
