MANCHESTER, England — Certainly one of two victims slain in the course of the assault on a synagogue in northern England on Yom Kippur was killed by a bullet fired by the police, apparently as they gunned down the attacker who had stabbed individuals and seemed to be carrying an explosive belt, the authorities mentioned Friday.
