Carys Garland is happy to welcome Ray Takeyh, Senior Fellow for Center East Research on the Council on Overseas Relations (CFR). As conflict rages in Iran, Mr. Takeyh warns that America’s “conflict of selection” is guided by an improvised navy technique that swings wildly between grand ambitions of regime change and extra narrowly framed objectives, together with disabling Iran’s missile program, neutralising its proxy networks, and completely ending its nuclear aspirations. All are open-ended commitments and lack a clearly articulated exit technique.
